In my childhood when I went through the story I used to focus on the moral of the story, usually, when the story was too long to be completed soon it seemed better to try to get an idea of the moral of the story because basically, it was the point where the conclusion of the story could be drawn.
As we all know these stories are not only to entertain us but also to nurture good habits within. One story of my childhood days I still remember because it had a very good storyline. The story was based on the high principles of a blacksmith and the greediness of the merchant. The blacksmith was a very good saw maker he was a professional and respect his work as well, and he had great regard for his tools.
One day a merchant reached this blacksmith and asked would he like to make axes in bulks for him, if he would complete the given target as soon as possible then double would be paid for each saw. Then the merchant placed a condition also that the blacksmith could not sell his tool to anybody else in the marketplace, except him (the merchant)
The blacksmith refused to accept his condition, and whatever the reasons he had given, was touched me, and even today arises the same feelings. The blacksmith answered It was not about money if he made tools in such a hurry, his workmanship would certainly be affected and he didn't want any kind of lacking in his craftsmanship or working.
The blacksmith was sure that merchants would buy many axes from him at less prices and then sell them to poor buyers at double, triple prices. But he didn't wish to become a medium for exploitation of the poor. So he thought if he became greedy, many people who need the tool urgently could suffer very badly, due to the greed of this greedy merchant.
Now you must be thinking that why am I telling you this story because somewhere we all have this greed and craftiness or I can say that we all are the combination of bits(honesty, goodness) of the blacksmith and the large proportion (selfishness,) of the greedy merchant, within ourselves.
Now again you people must be thinking why I am saying the bits of blacksmith and the large proportion of the merchant. The blacksmith was honest, generous and a man of principles while the merchant was so greedy and selfish.
Today I would like to tell you something regarding our greed, selfishness, and slyness it has been noticed widely that people do get attracted to things that can be presumed easily, any kind of vices and depravities can easily be absorbed by the people. Now I can understand how much you people are surprised to know this? But it is the fact.
As we are aware of the fact that truth is always bitter and it is the truth all about I am talking about people usually find thrill in those things that can be implemented or executed easily anywhere anytime. In today's world, nobody has got such a great virtue to rise above his /her interests and give importance to others' interests and objectives just as the blacksmith did.
In the case of the blacksmith, we do not only notice his unselfishness but also that quality that most people ignore to render. A handsome amount of money could easily be earned by him but his principles in life mattered the most rather than the cheap publicity or success.
He knew well that his one wrong step would be proved very harmful to those who need his tools and did not fall for the merchant's greed. It is just not a story but it can help a person to develop his/her inner conscience and based on which you can always keep your evils under your control
